SPE-UTP-SC will be organizing the Society of Petroleum Engineers Malaysia Student Chapter Conference 2008 (SPEMSCC 08) with a theme of “Empowering Future Young Professionals.” The main objective is to provide an opportunity for the graduating students to engage in discussions about the future directions for young professionals in the oil and gas industry.

During the week of March 10, SPE-KSU students organized SPE recruiting campaign at King Saud University. They invited students from different colleges and majors to attend. The presentations included an SPE overview with the benefits of SPE membership followed by instructions on how to apply and renew online, how to complete the membership application, and how to use e-library.
During 9-12 march, SPE-KSU committee organized a distinguished (full-time) SPE booth in the engineering college hall, at KSU, Riyadh, which resulted in 608+ SPE-KSU new members.
The Bahrain section hosted Ron Harrell, Distinguished Lecturer who spoke at the section meeting on 13 January 2008. SPE Student Chapter Istanbul Technical University members enjoyed a presentation from Tarik Kandemir on 8 February 2008 during their Coffee Time. They also enjoyed a visit to Einstein Museum on 11 February 2008. The chapter has planned four technical trips for this fall term. SPE-KSU and Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Department organized a three-day field trip to Saudi Aramco 4-6 February. The students visited Saudi Aramco, Abqaiq Division, Dhahran Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (EXPEC), and the Saudi Aramco Exhibit. The University of Ibadan Student Chapter (SPE UNIBADAN) has been chosen as the February Chapter of the Month. The chapter also has recently organized a Catch Them Young Program by visiting the Christ Ambassador International College, ibadan Oyo state, Nigeria on 13 December.
