Available Funds

Each region may customize the criteria, number and value of the scholarships and fellowships. Locate the region in which you are a permanent resident and view a list of how your region distributes the funds.

Star Scholarship and Fellowship

The Star scholarships for undergraduates and fellowships for graduate students support those pursuing degrees related to the oil and gas industry until the completion of degree for which awarded, up to a maximum of 4 years. We dedicate more than one million dollars to be awarded by our 15 Regions.

Recipients

Eligibility

To apply, you must be:

  • a student who has applied or registered at a university or a current full-time university student taking or planning to take oil and gas industry-related courses
  • an SPE member*
  • attending university and not graduating before December of this year

All award funding will be distributed in mid-September each year. Some regions divide awards into two payments, with the second payment in late-February. View a list of how your region distributes the funds. You cannot be awarded both a Star scholarship and a fellowship for the same year.

Before applying, download and read the Frequently Asked Questions and make sure you meet all of the eligibility requirements listed above. Only online applications via the link provided will be accepted. Submitting the application in any other format will deem you ineligible.

How to Apply

Fill out and submit the online application form by March 15. Create an account if this is your first time applying for this scholarship online (you will not be able to sign in with your SPE login). After submitting the application form, you will receive an electronic confirmation.

 

U.S. law prohibits provision of certain services to individuals residing in embargoed countries; therefore, not all applicants may be eligible to participate in the Star Scholarship program. Read more.
