Projects, Facilities and Construction Award

The SPE Projects, Facilities and Construction Award recognizes outstanding achievements in or contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in the area of projects, facilities and construction.

Criteria

The Projects, Facilities and Construction Award of the Society of Petroleum Engineers recognizes outstanding achievement or contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in the areas of projects, facilities and construction. 

  • This technical discipline includes:
    • process systems and equipment
    • gas utilization
    • measurement and control
    • electrical systems
    • pipelines and pipeline design
    • materials and corrosion
    • solids handling and control
    • platforms and floating systems
    • subsea systems
    • facilities operations
    • facilities and construction project management
  • The candidate must be a living member of SPE
  • The death of a candidate after May 1 does not render them ineligible during that year; the award may be presented posthumously in this case.
  • The award may be presented to a group for truly outstanding achievements, but preference is given to individual awards
  • Recipients of the John Franklin Carll Award, Lester C. Uren Award, DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal, or Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal are not eligible for this award.
  • Current SPE Board of Directors, Projects, Facilities, and Construction award committee members and those who have served in these positions during the past 2 years are not eligible.
  • Candidates remain on the active consideration list for 3 years.
  • If a candidate is not selected during the 3-year active consideration cycle, they can be renominated the following year if all other eligibility requirements are met.
