The Production and Operations Award of the Society of Petroleum Engineers recognizes outstanding achievement or contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in the area of production and operations technology.
Criteria
The Production and Operations Award recognizes outstanding achievement or contributions to the advancement of petroleum engineering in the area of production and operations technology.
- This technical discipline includes:
- production and injection systems
- production enhancement
- artificial lift systems
- production performance evaluation
- special technology applications
- oilfield chemistry
- multiphase flow in wells
- production management
- well life-cycle management and intervention
- The candidate must be a living member of SPE
- The death of a candidate after May 1 does not render them ineligible during that year; the award may be presented posthumously in this case.
- The award may be presented to a group for truly outstanding achievements, but preference is given to individual awards
- Recipients of the John Franklin Carll Award, Lester C. Uren Award, DeGolyer Distinguished Service Medal, or Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal are not eligible for this award.
- Current SPE Board of Directors, Production and Operations award committee members and those who have served in these positions during the past 2 years are not eligible.
- Candidates remain on the active consideration list for 3 years.
- If a candidate is not selected during the 3-year active consideration cycle, they can be renominated the following year if all other eligibility requirements are met.
