SPE is a member-run organization. Members formulate policies and programs, and carry out the work of seeing that goals are met and new initiatives undertaken.
Board of Directors
The SPE Board of Directors is the policymaking entity of the Society. The 27-member Board reflects the Society's geographic and technical diversity. Sections, likewise, are governed by a Section Board with various committees assisting in on-going operations.
Former SPE Presidents
The list of former presidents of SPE includes some of the biggest names in research, operations, management, and academia. Fifty-plus years of outstanding leadership has solidified SPE's place as the professional and technical home of the upstream oil and gas industry.
Nomination/Election Procedures
SPE elects a number of Board members annually, and any member can stand for office. Here is where you will find the nomination and election procedures.
Standing Committees
SPE standing committees are responsible for many of the Society's programs. Members analyze existing programs and make recommendations to the Board to create new ones or improve the many already in existence.
