Student Paper Contests
SPE holds nine regional student paper contests allowing students at the
undergraduate, master's, and doctorate level to showcase their skills and
research, competing against other students from their region for the
opportunity to participate in the international student paper contest, held
during the Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition. SPE provides funding of
up to USD 3,000 for regional winners to attend and participate in the international
student paper contest ![]()
Regional student paper contests are hosted by student chapters and their
universities on a rotation schedule determined by SPE's
Membership Committee. Student chapters that desire to host a
regional contest, must meet the criteria for
hosting a regional contest
and apply to be added to the
rotation schedule. Once approved, it may be several years before that chapter
reaches the top of the rotation schedule. Student chapters will be notified if
they are selected to host the paper contest in their region. The chapter
hosting the paper contest will need the manual and forms in the box at
right.
The date and location for each regional contest, and the submission date for papers will be posted on the Student News page and in the Student eUpdate. Additionally, students may be invited by email from the contest host to participate in the contest within their region.
