Section Best Practices
A primary force for promoting the transfer of technology is the worldwide network of SPE sections. Each local, affiliated section sets its own agenda for meeting the needs of section members and area professionals. In addition to regular technical meetings, many sections have community outreach programs designed to educate the public about the science and technology of petroleum exploration and production. Others have developed innovative programs to assist college students, recruit new members into the society, and communicate with members through newsletters and websites.
Each year, sections report their activities in an annual report. In the links at right, we've gleaned some of the best practices of SPE sections in the hope that they will inspire others to develop programs and practices that help sections and SPE meet their respective goals and objectives.
