Wellbore Positioning Technical Section is planned for the 23 April 2008 in
Inverness, Scotland.

The Wellbore Positioning Technical Section has existed since 1995 as the Industry Steering Committee for Wellbore Surveying Accuracy (ISCWA). The committee was established following the SPWLA Topical Conference on Measurement While Drilling, held in Kerrville, Texas, USA, in late 1995 and became an SPE Technical Section in 2004.
Mission
- To produce and maintain standards for the industry relating to wellbore survey accuracy.
- To set standards for terminology and accuracy specifications.
- To establish a standard framework for modeling and validation of tool performance.
- To raise awareness and understanding of wellbore survey accuracy issues across the industry.
