Maurice Boutéca, an SPE Distinguished Member, was appointed Deputy Director of the E&P Technology Business Unit for L’Inst. Français du Pétrole (IFP). An engineering graduate of the École Natl. Supérieure de Géologie of Nancy, he holds a PhD degree from the Paris School of Mines. Boutéca joined IFP in 1981 and has served since 2001 as Delegate General of the Committee of Petroleum and Marine Studies and of the Committee of Refining and Utilization Programs (consultative bodies of the Directorate of Energy and Mineral Resources).
Don Crow, SPE, was named General Sales Manager–Pumping Unit Products; Dewayne Atwell, SPE, was named Eastern Hemisphere Sales Manager; and David Freeze, SPE, was named U.S. Sales Manager for Lufkin Industries.
Tommy Dreelan, SPE, was named Grampian Industrialist of the Year by Junior Chamber Intl. Aberdeen for outstanding entrepreneurial contributions. He is Managing Director of Qserv.
Joe Magoto, SPE, was elected to the Ryder Scott Petroleum Consultants Board of Directors. He has more than 30 years of reservoir and production engineering experience, having joined Ryder Scott in 1978. In addition, John Hamlin, SPE, was promoted to Managing Senior Vice President and Group Leader, and Jennifer Fitzgerald, SPE, joined the company as a petroleum engineer. Fitzgerald previously worked for ExxonMobil.
Pat McKinney, SPE, was named Vice President−Business Development for Cano Petroleum. Before the appointment, he worked for Pioneer Natural Resources. McKinney earned a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the U. of Wyoming and an MBA degree from Pepperdine U.
Alberto Mezzatesta, SPE, joined Knowledge Reservoir as Director–Production Solutions. Previously, he was Chief Reservoir Engineer and Research Manager for Baker Hughes. Mezzatesta earned a PhD degree in chemical engineering from the U. of Houston.

Pappas, SPE, will chair the 2007 Houston Area Engineers Week Committee.
Representing more than 30,000 Houston area engineers, the committee selects and
honors the Engineer of the Year and distributes awards and scholarships to
outstanding juniors and seniors at Prairie View A&M U., Rice U., and the U.
of Houston. Pappas is Devon Energy Technology Coordinator and nominee for SPE
Technical Director−Production and Operations.
Terry Swift, SPE, was named Chairman of the Board and Raymond Galvin, SPE, was named Vice Chairman of the Board for Swift Energy.
David Tubbs, SPE, joined Leor Energy as Vice President of Operations. With more than 26 years of engineering experience, he has held senior positions with Burlington Resources, BP, and Sohio Petroleum.
