SPE Regional Awards Program Expands

From left, 2007 SPE President Abdul-Jaleel Al-Khalifa presents Andrei Popa of Chevron Corp. with the SPE Western Regional Young Member Outstanding Service Award as Alaska Section Director Robert Younger looks on.

The new SPE Regional Awards program recognizes regional achievements in six technical disciplines: Drilling and Completions; Reservoir Description and Dynamics; Production and Operations; Management and Information; Projects, Facilities, and Construction; and Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social Responsibility.  Regional awards are designed to recognize excellence and contributions made at the regional level. Regional award recipients become eligible for the Society-wide award in the following year for categories in which a comparable award exists. Outstanding young members and distinguished corporate support are also recognized.

The awards are in addition to the existing SPE Regional Service Awards program that allows every region to recognize up to three members each year for exceptional contributions to SPE at the section or regional level. A regional committee chaired by the SPE Regional Director selected award recipients.
