Operator Cabinda Gulf Oil Co., Chevron, Total, Eni, Sonangol, and GALP-Exploracao e Producao commenced first oil production from the Landana field in deepwater Block 14 in Angola. The Landana North reservoir is located in the Tombua-Landana development area, which consists of 46 wells.
Operator BP, Esso, Sonangol, Statoil, Marathon, and TEPA Ltd., a subsidiary of Total, announced the Titania oil find in ultradeepwater Block 31 offshore Angola. The well tested at 2,045 BOPD.
Operator Total, Sonangol, Esso, BP, Statoil, and Norsk Hydro reported the expanded potential of the Orquidea discovery in Block 17 offshore Angola. The Orquidea-2, drilled 2 km from the Orquidea-1 discovery well, confirmed the earlier find and identified deeper reservoir levels.
RWE Dea discovered oil in Libya’s Block NC193 in the Sirte basin. Operator Zueitina Oil Co., the Natl. Oil Corp. of Libya, Occidental, and OMV also found oil in Block NC74A, located southwest of the Sirte basin 42 km north of Zella field.
Petroceltic encountered a 230-m gross gas column with the ISAS-1 exploration well in Algeria. The well is located in the Isarene Permit in the Illizi Basin.
Burren Energy reported an oil find with the Loufika-1 exploration well in the Republic of the Congo. The discovery is located 35 km southeast of the M’Boundi field.
Operator BP and parties to the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Production Sharing Agreement commenced production from the East Azeri platform 4 months ahead of schedule. This completes Phase 2 of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field development in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. Phase 3 remains on schedule for start of production in 2008.
Operator Santos, Singapore Petroleum Sampang, Cue Sampang, and PT Petrogas Oyong Jatim encountered a gross gas column of 141 m on the Wortel-1 exploration well offshore East Java, Indonesia.
Operator Santos, PC Madura, and PT Pantai Madura began production from the Maleo gas project in Indonesia. The project is Santos’ third offshore operated project to come on line in the last 18 months.
PetroChina reported three finds in the Junggar basin in China’s northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The oil and gas finds are on the Che-89, Mana-1, and Dixi-14 wells.
Operator Chevron reported a gas find on the Clio-1 exploration well, located 90 miles offshore northwestern Australia in Permit WA-205-P.
Nexus Energy announced flow-test results on the Longtom-3 well, located in VIC/P54 in the offshore Gippsland basin, Victoria, Australia. Tests from the lower sands confirmed commercial production rates in the Longtom field. The Longtom-3 well flowed at 77 MMcf/D of gas and 324 B/D of condensate.
Operator Origin Energy, ARC Energy, Victoria Petroleum Offshore, Norwest Energy, Roc Oil, and J.K. Geary reported an oil discovery on the Jingemia 8 well located in L14 in Australia’s Perth basin. The well tested at 3,520 BOPD. The Hovea 12 well, located in L1, tested at 3,230 BOPD.
Operator Mosaic Oil and Santos found gas on the Churchie West-1 exploration well in southeast Queensland, Australia. The well tested at 3.5 MMcf/D.
Operator Statoil, Petoro, Total, Gaz de France, Hess, and RWE Dea made a gas discovery 60 km east of the Snøhvit field on the Tornerose structure in the Barents Sea, Norway. Exploration Well 7122/6-2, located in Production License 110B in 408 m of water, proved gas in several sandstone layers.
Petro-Canada achieved first oil from the De Ruyter development, located in the southern part of the North Sea on the Dutch continental shelf. The field straddles Blocks P10a and P11b.
Operator Talisman Energy and First Oil Expro reported an oil find in the U.K. Outer Moray Firth in Block 20/5a. The 20/5a-10y well encountered two sandstone reservoirs and tested at a combined rate of 11,000 BOPD.
Operator Ruhrgas U.K. North Sea, Dana Petroleum, and
Centrica Resources found gas in the Babbage field, located in North Sea
Block 48/2a. The appraisal well tested at 10.7 MMcf/D.
DNO reported flow-test results on the Godah No. 3 appraisal well in
Block 32 in Yemen at 1,511 BOPD and 122 Mcf/D of gas.
Energy Partners announced two gas exploratory successes on the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) continental shelf on the Vermilion 101 Well No. 1 and the West Cameron 98 Well No. A3st.
Operator Eni made a gas discovery on the Longhorn North exploration well, located in the U.S. deepwater GOM. The find is in Mississippi Canyon Block 502, 195 km southeast of New Orleans.
Mariner Energy encountered approximately 540 ft of net vertical pay in 13 sands on the GOM High Island 116 No. 5ST1 well. The well was drilled to a total measured depth of 14,683 ft.
Operator Shell Brazil, Petrobras, and ONGC launched the BC-10 development in deepwater Brazil. Phase One contracts were awarded on three fields (Ostra, Abalone, and Argonauta). Contracts also were awarded for the second phase of another field. The B-10 Block is located in the Campos basin.
Petrolifera Petroleum announced test results on the RN.Pm.a-1014 well on the northern portion of the Puesto Morales/Rinconada Concession in the Neuquen basin onshore Argentina. A flow rate of approximately 1,200 BOPD was recorded on the well.
Pacific Stratus Energy encountered a gross gas pay interval of 642 ft on the La Creciente-1 well in the Lower Magdalena basin in Colombia.
