Offshore Facilities: Construction and Design

Tow Methods for Deepwater Riser-Tower Transportation in West-of-Africa Environment

Riser towers are characterized by very low service-fatigue damage in deepwater fields with floating production facilities. However, transportation from the fabrication yard to site can be of concern. This phase can use a significant portion of the allowable fatigue damage. Longer tow distances use more of the allowable fatigue damage. Two tow configurations that minimize the fatigue damage and allow longer tow distances are presented.
