People

 Mads Grinrod, SPE, was named acting Executive Vice President for Statoil. Before this appointment, he was Senior Vice President for Safety of Statoil. Grinrod earned an engineering degree from the Norwegian Institute of Technology.

 Damir Horvat, SPE, was named Drilling Engineering Manager for Arrow Energy’s head office in Brisbane, Australia. Before this appointment, he was Principal Drilling and Completions Engineer of Arrow Energy. Horvat serves as the SPE Queensland Section Director, as a Technical Editor for SPE Drilling & Completion, and on the JPT Editorial Committee. He earned an MS degree in petroleum engineering from École Supérieure Robert de Sorbon, France.

Tom J. O’Donnell, SPE, was named Vice President of Corporate Development and Planning for Energy XXI. Before this appointment, he was Director of Corporate Development and Planning for Energy XXI. O’Donnell earned a BS degree in petroleum engineering from Texas A&M University.

Platt, Sparks & Associates Consulting Petroleum Engineers reported two appointments.  John F. Miller III, SPE, has become partner of the firm. He joined Platt, Sparks as a consulting petroleum engineer in 2001. Miller earned an MS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and a BS degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.  Carter N. Davis, SPE, also has become a partner of the firm. He joined Platt, Sparks as a consulting petroleum engineer in 1995. Davis earned an MS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and a BS degree in environmental/chemical engineering from Rice University.

 Chris Wright, SPE, was named the first Carbo Ceramics Fellow. The Carbo Fellowship program was initiated to recognize employees who demonstrate industry-leading technical expertise that creates value for clients and drives business strategy. Wright, who founded Pinnacle Technologies, resigned from his position as Vice President, Business Development, but will continue to be an adviser to the company.
