14-17 October
Bucharest, Romania
The beginning of the Romanian petroleum industry dates back to 1769 with the documentation of rudimentary crude oil extraction in Moldavia by Dimitrie Cantemir, a former Moldavia King, who published the account in "Descriptio Moldavie." Recent Romanian petroleum history notes that in 1857 the world's first refinery (the Mehedinteanu Refinery) was commissioned in Prahova, and the first official production of 275 tons of crude was recorded.
This conference will celebrate the history of the Romanian petroleum industry with a 2-day technical program devoted to the latest technology and trends. An icebreaker (14 October) and Gala Dinner (15 October) are planned, along with a field trip (16 October) to geological outcrops, hydrocarbon fields, and Romanian heritage sites.
Registration fees will be EUR 200 for SPE members and EUR 230 for non-members. The fees include the welcome icebreaker, Gala Dinner, coffee breaks, two lunches, all technical sessions, and conference documentation. A small fee will be required to cover icebreaker, Gala Diner, and social program for non-registered guests (including family members).
