Intelligent Completions - SPE Emerging Technology Workshop

Intelligent completions are no longer exclusively for large, deepwater, or highly leveraged fields. Advances in reliability and standardization of design have put these solutions within reach of land operations. As the number of field applications continues to increase, intelligent completion technology has matured, offering a flexible range of options. Costs are decreasing as reliability and flexibility continue to improve. Off-the-shelf solutions can be applied for both measurement and production optimization in a variety of cost scenarios, making these solutions viable as an enhanced recovery technology.
Through brief, informal case studies followed by extended discussion, this Emerging Technology Workshop will explore the key factors that determine if an intelligent completion is warranted for a particular field. Data gathering and mechanical solutions will be discussed as well as retrievable and reusable solutions. This event is aimed at operators and service companies interested in novel solutions for enhancing recovery or monitoring downhole conditions.
