SPE International Thermal Operations and Heavy Oil Symposium

21-23 October 2008
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Heavy oil and bitumen are substantial resources that are becoming increasingly important all over the globe. While production growth is driven by increasing demand and declining conventional oil production, innovation is driven by costs, technical challenges, and environmental hurdles.

In October 2008, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Canadian Petroleum Society, and the Canadian Heavy Oil Association will convene in Calgary, Canada, to explore the varied aspects of the heavy oil and bitumen industry. This conference will combine the SPE International Thermal Operations and Heavy Oil Symposium and the CHOA Annual Business Conference, and will be held October 21 - 23, 2008.

The theme for this Conference is Heavy Oil - Integrating the Pieces . This is an international conference and exhibition, presenting the most current technologies from around the world, with a special focus on heavy oil and bitumen. The scope of the technical programme will encompass economic, technical, and environmental issues that challenge the heavy oil and bitumen industries.
