About Morocco

Climate

On the Atlantic-Mediterranean coastline, June to September is the most pleasant time to visit Morocco, with its mostly rain-free days, moderate humidity, warm conditions, and the mercury lingering around the high 20ºCs (low 80ºFs) during the daytime. Further inland, rain is sparse the year round and it can get quite hot. More comfortable conditions on the central plateau will be found during March to June and September to December. Visitors are cautioned not to underestimate the extremes of the heat and cold in the higher mountains, where some peaks can remain snow capped from November to June.

Cultural tips

  • In the hills and the villages, a conservative dress code is required; sleeveless and unbuttoned shirts should be avoided
  • Although you are not likely to meet women in the streets, it is advisable that you avoid shaking hands with them unless they offer their hand first
  • If you are invited for food at a Moroccan house, make sure you bring a gift with you, take off your shoes when entering the house, and use your right hand for eating (Moroccans eat with their hands.)
  • When shopping, make sure that you bargain as prices tend to be doubled
