An Invitation from the Conference Cochairpersons

Although some countries have been developing unconventional reservoirs for decades, the economic shifts and new technologies produced by market demands have brought the spotlight onto the development of unconventional reservoirs worldwide. Given the timing and the importance of unconventional reservoirs, we are pleased to invite you to the SPE Unconventional Reservoirs Conference to be held 10–12 February 2008 in Keystone, Colorado. This new conference will focus on unconventional reservoirs and provide an international forum for the discussion of advanced technologies that can be used to define, characterize, and recover unconventional hydrocarbon reserves. This single-track, 2-day conference will feature an innovative format that will include a facilitated discussion of invited papers. The presentations will highlight the emerging and applied technologies in use worldwide for the recovery of unconventional hydrocarbon resources.

The four sessions in this conference will address the following issues:

  • Introduction—Statistics, Challenges, Data, and Characterization
  • Production Mechanisms, Flow Characteristics, and Modeling Requirements
  • Well Architecture and Stimulation
  • Field Cases — Global Experiences With Unconventional Reservoirs

Professionals in fields such as asset and project management, reservoir engineering and evaluation, and production and well completions will benefit from attending. If you are interested or involved in the study and development of unconventional reserves, you should make plans to attend this exciting new conference. We look forward to seeing you in Keystone, Colorado.

Sincerely,
