eLibrary Subscription Options

SPE offers three types of eLibrary subscriptions: corporate, individual, and university. All provide an economic alternative to purchasing papers separately. For companies in countries where payment with a credit card in USD is difficult, corporate subscriptions offer an easy method for allowing employees access to SPE papers.

Subscriptions to the SPE eLibrary provide you access to search and download papers through the Internet. They do not include search services or delivery of papers by other methods (e.g., fax, e-mail, postal service).

Corporate Subscriptions

SPE offers a wide range of subscription options suitable for companies of all sizes.  Companies can purchase a subscription that applies to all employees, or to a subset of employees (such as an office or division).  The preferred method for identifying authorized users of the subscription is IP (Internet protocol) validation.  Corporations provide SPE with the external IP addresses of its offices, and when we detect a user from one of those IP addresses, we allow them to use the corporate subscription for access to the eLibrary.  [If, for some reason, a company cannot use IP validation to allow SPE to identify authorized users, other options are available.  Contact lib_subscribe@spe.org for more information.]  All papers are for employees’ personal use and may not be resold, posted on the Internet, or distributed.  Learn more about use of eLibrary papers

University/College Subscriptions

SPE also offers an economical subscription exclusively for universities and colleges. This subscription provides for an unlimited number of papers to be downloaded by current faculty, staff and students (walk-in usage by the general public in the university library is not allowed). Downloaded papers are for personal use only; they may not be resold, distributed, or posted on the Internet/Intranet (see specifics below).

For 2008, Schlumberger is sponsoring university eLibrary subscriptions for universities that have SPE student chapters. If you are interested in this program, please contact Ms. Audra Russo at lib_subscribe@spe.org.

To Purchase a Subscription

Contact Ms. Audra Russo at lib_subscribe@spe.org or SPE customer service at service@spe.org or phone 972-952-9393.  You will need to provide contact information (name, address, phone, email, and, where appropriate, member number). Corporate and university subscribers should provide two contact names; these will be the individuals who have authority to change information on the account. All subscriptions require that you sign a terms of use agreement. The unlimited corporate subscription also requires a contract. Submit authorized IP ranges on our IP form

For non-US subscribers:  SPE is willing to work with an agent or 3rd party to assist in payment where payment in USD is difficult.  However, SPE does NOT provide an agency discount on eLibrary subscriptions.

Prepayment is required. Subscribers are responsible for all security and use (including violations) of their password and authorized use of SPE papers obtained through their subscriptions.
