Replicating field conditions for flow assurance experiments often presents many challenges. These challenges are usually centered on designing an experiment with appropriately scaled geometry, selecting the test conditions, and reproducing the operating environment all while balancing the cost associated with the project. This presentation will provide an overview of different techniques that have been utilized at Southwest Research Institute (SwRIÒ) to study gas hydrate formation in flowing conditions from a variety of scenarios relevant to hydrocarbon production and transport.
Ali Mirza presents “Integrated Well Integrity Risk Assessment Process (WIRAP)” on 1 December at 0830 Central Time. In this webinar, Mirza talks about managing integrity of a well portfolio and anticipating any unplanned downtime to maximize production. This presentation highlights an integrated Well Integrity Risk Assessment Process (WIRAP) that is used to quantitatively assess well integrity risks and leverage this information to provide operational decision support.

This report was written by a steering committee of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Industry input was obtained from a summit held April 2016 in Houston as well as members from SPE online communities. This Technical Report is based on discussions and conclusions from the summit and is intended to provide guidance on an industry-wide safety management data sharing program. The overall objective of the effort is to: a) eliminate or reduce risk of harm through industry sharing of data, b) to generate information that builds knowledge, understanding and ownership, and c) to disseminate recommended corrective actions to prevent a re-occurrence. It was approved by the SPE Board of Directors in September 2016.
Shales and other low-permeability formations require multistage completions, hydraulic fracturing, and horizontal wells to produce at economic rates. This webinar focuses on the multistage completion systems that are used in these applications, including plug-and-perf, ball-activated systems (frac sleeves), and coiled tubing-activated systems (annular fracturing). Learn the different types of wellbore completion options and how they compare in different applications. Join W. Aaron Burton on 3 November at 1000 Central Time.
SPE’s Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section created an international university competition to encourage the development of new drilling algorithms and to get more young people involved in drilling. This webinar describes the contest, what skill sets are necessary to successfully compete, and what types of innovative features are likely to emerge from this exciting competition. Join us on 26 October at 0830 Central Time. The winning team receives travel expenses to present their results at the next Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition.
