PF&C Summer Series: Five Things You Wanted to Know About Subsea Production Systems

In July, the Gulf Coast Section PF&C Study Group will offer a series of topics, presented by industry-recognized experts, to provide attendees with a general understanding of the challenges of subsea production and the methods implemented to address these challenges. Each session is scheduled as a one-hour presentation followed by a 30-min Q&A session.

  • July 3—3D software used to prevent an introduction to subsea hardware and basic field development.
  • July 10—Concepts associated with increasing recovery from subsea reservoirs.
  • July 17—Overview of deepwater floating production systems.
  • July 24—Flow assurance issues and methodologies for mitigating the risk of permanently or temporarily losing production.
  • July 31—Design and installation of umbilicals and flexible pipelines.

SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference Recap

The annual SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference took place 4–6 February 2013, in The Woodlands, Texas, USA. Over 1900 attendees took part in the conference that presented 52 papers on topics ranging from fracture diagnostics to microseismic to fracture conductivity. All papers are now available on onepetro.org.

The exhibit floor was expanded from the 2012 conference and over 75 companies participated in displaying their products and services. This conference has been one of the fastest growing that SPE hosts, starting in 2007 with just a couple hundred participants and plans are already being made for 2014. If you work in the area of hydraulic fracturing, mark your calendar now to make plans to attend next year!
