Thousands of volunteers around the world provide the energy that makes the Society function. We are grateful to these members and encourage other members to consider volunteering.

As a volunteer, you can:

  • influence programs and activities that drive our mission with your knowledge and experience
  • enhance your leadership skills
  • meet and work with other members from across the globe
  • contribute in your area of interest at both the local and international level

Student Members: Contact your student chapter to let them know you are interested in volunteering for student chapter activities.

  2. Find the opportunities of interest to you.
  3. Complete an application.

You will be considered for volunteer opportunities as openings arise.

Most standing committee appointments are made between June and August, while program committee appointments and local sections appoint volunteers throughout the year.

A Peer Apart

We recognize the dedicated members who volunteer in the peer review of 100 or more papers. Members who commit their time to peer review papers make substantial contributions to the industry’s literature by helping to ensure that the papers published in SPE’s technical journals are of the highest quality. Over time, these individuals volunteer hundreds of hours to the Society, making SPE journals a valuable resource for the industry.
