Student Membership Qualifications

I am enrolled in a university and carry at least 30% of a normal full-time academic load and have a concentration in petroleum or a related field. And at least one of the following:

  1. Be pursuing the equivalent to a bachelors or graduate degree
  2. Attend an university with an SPE established student chapter
Note: SPE will contact your student chapter faculty sponsor to verify enrollment or request a copy of your current transcript or proof of enrollment.

You must complete the entire process, including payment, for your membership to be processed. The SPE membership year is January through December. Members joining after 1 September pay for next year's dues and receive the remaining months of the current year at no additional cost. Please note that 5% of your dues is allocated to your subscription to the Journal of Petroleum Technology and is not deductible or refundable. SPE membership dues and fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
