Message from North Sea Regional Director
Karl Ludvig Heskestad
SPE Regional Director North Sea
This will be my final message to you as your Regional Director and the final message when the North Sea is a separate SPE region. As my three year tenure is up I will attend my last Board Meeting during #ATCE2019 and during the fall the North Sea will officially merge with the other European region to form one super region, which will simply be called Europe.
I am writing my message on the way back from SPE Offshore Europe 2019 (#OE19), which has been another successful SPE event with a long list of interesting speakers and great activity on the exhibition floor. I hope you attended, and you should already mark your calendar for the upcoming #ENGenious2020 and #OE21 events in 2020 and 2021 respectively, both in Aberdeen. This three years have gone by very quickly and I would like to thank all the members for their dedication, the section officers around the North Sea for many quality meetings and gatherings over the years and the SPE Staff who have made it easier for me in my work for SPE. I would also like to thank my employer for their continuous support during these three years, which from a macro perspective have been quite volatile.
Together with my friend and fellow board member, Mr. Jean Marc Dumas the Regional Director for South Central and Eastern Europe, we will join forces in the middle of September together with section leadership from both regions in a Regional Section Officers Meeting. During two days we will lay the foundation for a great kick off for the new region and exchange knowledge across both country borders and regions. The new European region will be Jean Marc’s responsibility for one year before a new Regional Director is elected.
Once again I thank you all for the time you spend on behalf of our society and the effort you all make.
