SPE honored Jack Hinton with the SPE Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social Responsibility (HSSE-SR) Award at its Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, which was held 9–11 October in San Antonio, Texas. Hinton is the executive vice president for health, safety, and environment at Baker Hughes, a GE company.
Hinton was recognized for his global leadership as one of the more senior contributors to health, safety, and environment (HSE) activities in all of SPE and for promoting the SPE “Getting to Zero” campaign and the Baker Hughes “Perfect Day” advances.
“It is an honor to recognize Jack for his commitment and dedication to the oil and gas industry with the Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Social Responsibility Award. SPE international award winners were nominated by their colleagues and selected by their peers for their achievement and contributions, and it’s my pleasure to congratulate him on receiving this prestigious international award from SPE,” said Janeen Judah, 2017 SPE president.
Hinton has 40 years of industry experience, including 26 years with Texaco as vice president and director of HSE and 12 years with Baker Hughes. He holds a BS degree in biology/chemistry from Trevecca Nazarene University and an MS degree in environmental science and a DrPH degree in occupational health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Hinton serves on the Management Committee of the International Oil and Gas Association and on the SPE HSSE-SR Advisory Committee.
