International HSE Conference Calls for Papers

The call for papers has gone out for SPE’s next international health, safety, and environment (HSE) conference. The deadline for submissions is 18 June.

The 2020 SPE International Conference on Health, Safety, the Environment (HSE), and Sustainability will be held along with the SPE Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference 17–19 March in Bogotá, Colombia. The theme of the HSE conference is “Generating Pride and Enabling Engagement.”

“The 20HSE conference builds on prior international conferences and, as always, looks to raise the bar and be increasingly strategic,” said Johana Dunlop, conference program committee cochairperson and SPE’s technical director for HSE and sustainability.

Chaired by Jose Cotello, president of the Ecopetrol subsidiary in Brazil, the conference gathers professionals from around the industry to share challenges and best practices to minimize risk, add value to operations, and underpin the social license to operate.

Papers are being accepted in more than 100 topics in the following categories:

  • Health in communities

  • Industrial hygiene
  • Energy transition and greenhouse-gas management
