HOW MUCH DID COMPENSATION FOR ENGINEERS INCREASE LAST YEAR?
The average engineer working in oil and gas earned 6% more this year than last year. Total compensation for engineers increased to 146,861 USD on average from 138,536 USD last year.

WHO REPORTED AN INCREASE IN BONUS PAY THIS YEAR?
The Executives and Top Management category was the only category of professionals to report an increase in bonus pay this year. All other categories of professionals reported earning less bonus pay this year than last year.

WHO IS OFFERING THE HIGHEST TOTAL COMPENSATION?
The highest average total compensation levels are provided by independent oil and gas companies. The lowest pay and bonuses are seen in government organizations.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF RESPONDENTS REPORTED AN EDUCATION LEVEL BEYOND A BACHELOR’S DEGREE?
Since 2016, the average education level of respondents continues to increase. For the first time, more than half (51%) of respondents reported an education level beyond a bachelor’s degree.

WHICH REGIONS HAVE THE MOST TOTAL ANNUAL DAYS OFF?
The regions with the most total annual days off for engineers are Middle East and North Africa (55), Russia and Caspian (52), Asia Pacific (51), and Europe (50). North American engineers receive the least amount of days off (37) followed by Latin American engineers (39).
