Phil Longorio, SPE, has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of Scientific Drilling International, after serving 4 months as its interim president. Most recently, Longorio served as senior vice president of TETRA Technologies, where he spent 6 years and was responsible for the company’s energy service and chemical divisions. During part of that time, he was also nonexecutive chairman of the board of GeoDynamics as well as of Sensortran. Before that, he was president and CEO of Well Dynamics, a joint venture between Halliburton Energy Services and Shell Technology Ventures that provided intelligent well technology.
From 1999 to 2004, Longorio served as vice president of Sperry-Sun Drilling Services, a subsidiary of Halliburton. Starting in 1988, he served Halliburton in executive management roles leading the well testing, wireline logging, and perforating businesses. Longorio began his career at Gearheart Industries, where he worked in various field, sales, and management positions from 1977 to 1988, when Gearheart was acquired by Halliburton.
