Jeremy Thigpen, SPE, was appointed chief financial officer (CFO) and senior vice president at National Oilwell Varco (NOV). After graduating from Rice University with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and managerial studies, he joined National Oilwell (now NOV) in May 1997. During his time with the company, Thigpen has lived and worked throughout the world, and has served in a number of administrative, sales, and operational roles across NOV’s various businesses. In 2003, he became president of the downhole tools group and in 2007 became president of NOV’s downhole and pumping segment, which includes downhole tools, drill bits and services, drillstring telemetry, and mission drilling and production products. Thigpen currently serves on the boards of directors of voestalpine Tubulars, Boys and Girls Country, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Houston.
