Petrobras spudded the first of two wildcat wells in the Libra presalt field, 170 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Well 3-RJS-731 will be drilled to a total depth of 5850 m. The block covers approximately 1550 km2, whose average water depth is 2000 m. Petrobras (40%) is the operator, with partners Shell (20%), Total(20%), CNOOC (10%), and Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (10%).
