W&T Offshore reported that it has logged 149 ft of net oil pay in five zones from the Ship Shoal 359 A-18 well in the US Gulf of Mexico and extended the size and depth calculations of the Mahogany field. Drilled to a 20,000-ft vertical depth in 372 ft of water, the well confirmed that the T sand is present and oil-bearing on the field’s west side, and penetrated four other pay sands. By drilling a subsequent exploratory tail about 950 ft deeper, the company found another pay interval in the U sand. W&T is the field’s sole interest owner.
