Cenovus Energy has agreed to purchase Canexus’s crude-by-rail loading facility for USD 75 million. Located in Bruderheim, 50 km northeast of Edmonton, Alberta, the terminal has value for Cenovus because of its existing pipeline connections to the Cold Lake and Access crude oil pipeline systems as well as its links to the Canadian Pacific Railway and Canadian National Railway lines. The company currently transports heavy oil from its Foster Creek steam-assisted gravity drainage operation in the Cold Lake pipeline to Bruderheim.
