BP Oman has awarded Aberdeen-based KCA Deutag more than USD 400 million in contracts for the construction and operation of five new-build land rigs, which will be used in the Khazzan Project. BP Oman has also awarded Oman’s Abraj Energy Service more than USD 330 million in contracts to supply three drilling rigs for full field development of Khazzan. Khazzan is an early-stage tight gas project located in Block 61, onshore Oman. BP Oman (60%) is operator of the block with state-owned partner Oman Oil Company (40%).
