Wintershall

Wintershall has discovered gas at wildcat well 6604/5-1 in the northern Norwegian Sea, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. The well encountered three gross gas columns, totaling 623 ft, with preliminary calculations estimating a discovery of 7 Bcf to 671 Bcf of recoverable natural gas and minor amounts of recoverable condensate. The company-operated well, the first exploration well in production license 894, was drilled in approximately 4,000 ft of water to a vertical depth of 12,530 ft below the sea surface. The discovery is under evaluation for potential development with other area discoveries and prospects.
