Vertical Monitoring Tool

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) introduced the TruVertical system to the Tolteq portfolio of measurement-while-drilling/logging-while-drilling technologies. The system is a simple and reliable vertical monitoring tool that provides users with access to downhole survey data, including inclination, azimuth, and tool face. The tool arrives at the rigsite already loaded in the drill collar, ready to be assembled in the bottomhole assembly by the rig crew. The system benefits directional service providers, operators, and rig contractors by providing them with the flexibility to perform directional work in the vertical section of the well where tool face is required. Integration with the Tool Tracker system allows access to logged tool history and environmental data, and firmware updates ensure continuous improvement throughout the system’s life cycle. The system is expandable, allowing the user to add gamma for additional visibility, and its rugged design can withstand the shock and vibration of harsh downhole environments. The tool is available in 4¾-, 6½-, and 8-in. versions.
