Wellesley Petroleum was granted a drilling permit for well 35/11-21 S by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. Well 35/11-21 S will be drilled from the Transocean Arctic drilling facility 1.5 km southwest of the discovery well, 35/12-2 (Grosbeak). The drilling program involves License 248 I on the Norwegian Shelf; the license was awarded in December of last year. Wellesley Petroleum is the operator, with an ownership interest of 60%, while licensee Petoro has an ownership interest of 40%. The area in this production license consists of a part of Block 35/11. The drilling is expected to have a duration of approximately 76 days, depending on whether a discovery is made. The well is the third and last self-operated well for Wellesley Petroleum to be drilled by the Transocean Arctic platform.
