Eni discovered gas in the Nour exploration prospect in Egypt’s Nour North Sinai concession in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The Nour-1 New Field wildcat, drilled to 5914 m TD in 295 m of water, encountered 33 m of gross sandstone pay with a 90-m gas column in the Oligocene Tineh formation. Eni operates the concession with a 40% interest in participation with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. Other interests are BP (25%), Mubadala Petroleum (20%), and Tharwa Petroleum Co. (15%).
