Douglas Pferdehirt, SPE, was appointed president and CEO of FMC Technologies, effective 1 September. Current CEO and Chairman John Gremp will remain as chairman of the board until his retirement in 2017. In May, FMC and Technip announced that the companies plan to combine into a single entity to be called TechnipFMC, and Pferdehirt will serve as the CEO of the new company. The transaction is expected to close in early 2017, subject to regulatory approvals. After a 26-year career with Schlumberger, Pferdehirt joined FMC in 2012 as executive vice president and chief operating officer and became president in 2015. He holds a BS degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
