McDermott’s derrick barge 30 performs work on the Esso Australia Kipper Tuna Turrum project in Bass Strait, where Exxon and its partner BHP said the development costs rose by more than 60% from USD 2.7 billion to USD 4.4 billion. Citing delays, labor shortages, and technical challenges, including mercury removal, first gas production from Kipper is expected in 2016.
