Building the Energean Power FPSO

Work is continuing on Energean Power FPSO, the first permanently fiber rope-moored offshore facility in the Mediterranean upon installation, at the COSCO Shipyards in Zhoushan, China.

Energean will use the FPSO to process the reservoir fluids and export sales gas from the Karish and Tanin gas fields in the eastern Mediterranean, approximately 56 mi offshore Israel. Following the sanction of Karis and Tanin in March 2018, Energean contracted TechnipFMC under a turnkey, lump sum EPCIC contract to provide the full suite of FPSO and SURF services during the construction phase. TechnipFMC subcontracted COSCO to provide the FPSO hull. In May 2019, TechnipFMC awarded Lankhorst Offshore a contract to provide mooring lines for the facility.

First steel for the FPSO was cut at the COSCO yard on 26 November 2018. Work on the hull is expected to end by the end of the year, after which it will travel to the Sembcorp Admirality Yard in Singapore or installation of the Siemens-built topsides. First gas from Karish and Tanin is projected in 2021.
