Trelleborg was awarded an order for foam buoyancy systems for the second phase development of the Shah Deniz field offshore Azerbaijan. The distributed buoyance modules (DBMs), attached to the outside of a pipeline, provide uplift and maintain location for flexible risers, cables, and umbilicals in floating production applications. With a design life of 30 years, the high-temperature syntactic foam DBM assemblies are clamped to the riser. The buoyancy segments are assembled to mechanically lock around the clamp and are secured with circumferential straps. The system can be adjusted to operate in seawater depths from surface to 6,000 m and beyond.
