Subsea Thermal Insulation

Trelleborg Offshore has developed Vikotherm II, the next generation of its Vikotherm subsea thermal insulation material, which offers improved elasticity and process and manufacturing flexibility because the system can be applied on-site. Vikotherm II has a k-value of 0.13W/mK and can be used to depths of 9,842 ft. It can be used for applications with liquid temperatures up to 311°F and with external temperatures as low as –31°F. The company said the material is practically incompressible, seawater resistant, impact resistant, and maintenance free.
