The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) named D. Nathan Meehan, senior executive adviser at Baker Hughes, as its 2016 president. He will take office as president-elect on 29 October at the close of SPE’s Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Before joining Baker Hughes, Meehan was president at CMG Petroleum Consulting, vice president of engineering at Occidental Oil & Gas, and general manager of exploration and production at Union Pacific Resources. He previously served as chairman at the CMG Reservoir Simulation Foundation and director at the Computer Modelling Group, Vanyoganeft Oil Company, Pinnacle Technologies, and JOA Oil & Gas BV. He has served as an at-large director on SPE’s board of directors. Meehan holds a BS in physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MS in petroleum engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and a PhD in petroleum engineering from Stanford University.
