George L. Kirkland

George L. Kirkland is retiring from his position as vice chairman and executive vice president of upstream at Chevron. Kirkland has held numerous assignments across the company’s worldwide operations, including leadership roles in Indonesia and Nigeria and as president of the North American and international upstream businesses. Under his leadership, Chevron applied advanced gas injection to increase production at the Tengiz field in Kazakhstan and developed Lower Tertiary resources at the Jack and St. Malo fields in the US Gulf of Mexico. Kirkland joined the company in 1974 as a construction engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida.
