The Inspection Technologies business of GE Energy’s Measurement & Control Solutions has introduced its CRx25P computed radiography (CR) imaging solution combining high scanning resolution and throughput with compact design and light weight (21 kg or 46 lb) to provide a portable inspection solution for oil and gas processes. It features an upgraded plate transport system, which optimizes plate handling, and it accepts flexible phosphor imaging plates up to 35 cm (14 in) wide and of virtually any length, with one plate being fed into the unit while the other is being scanned. The CRx25P can be operated at standard scan resolutions of 50 µm or 100 mm, at which it is suitable for corrosion/erosion inspection. It also can be operated at scan resolutions of 17 mm and 25 mm, thus qualifying its use for weld inspections in compliance with international standards, according to the company. In addition, a battery-powered version enables autonomous operation in special environments. Optional accessories include a rugged, protective transport case, drum extensions and imaging plate guides. The scanner can be used with GE’s Rhythm software platform, which allows acquisition, reporting, review, and archiving of inspection results in the industry standard DICONDE (Digital Imaging and Communication in Nondestructive Evaluation) protocol. The scanner also can be used with the company’s Flash!Filters to allow instant image enhancement and faster defect detection.
