Gazprom discovered a gas deposit during exploration at the Kirinskoye field in the Sea of Okhotsk near Sakhalin Island, Russia. Reserve estimates for the discovery have not been disclosed. The field is considered crucial for the company’s plans to boost liquefied natural gas (LNG) production at its Sakhalin-2 plant on the island. The plant produces 10 million tonnes of LNG per year and is slated to add another 5 million tonnes of capacity.
