Derek Mathieson, SPE, has been appointed chief commercial officer of Baker Hughes’ newly formed Commercial Strategy organization. The company has consolidated its previous regional operations structure into one global organization. Mathieson will lead the commercial growth strategy for the company, future business incubation efforts, and corporate development planning and implementation. He previously served as vice president, chief technology and marketing officer. His other positions at Baker Hughes include vice president and chief strategy officer; president, western hemisphere; and president, products and technology. Mathieson holds a PhD in microelectromechanical systems and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Heriot-Watt University. He is a chartered engineer with the UK Engineering Council and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
