Felipe Bayón Pardo was appointed president of Ecopetrol upon the resignation of president Juan Carlos Echeverry Garzón. The transition will be made on 15 September. Bayón is currently the executive vice president of the company. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, both in Colombia and abroad. Previously, he worked at BP for more than 20 years, where he held senior positions such as senior vice president BP Americas and director of the deepwater international response group. Bayón holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Los Andes, Colombia.
