Chris Haynes was named president of the Energy Industries Council. Haynes has nearly 40 years of experience with Shell and its affiliates, working in oil and gas E&P, liquefied natural gas, project development, and operations. After retiring from the industry in 2011, he worked as an independent consultant in the oil and gas and minerals industries. He has also served on the health, safety, and environment committees for the boards of WorleyParsons and Woodside Petroleum. In 2009, he was appointed an officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his service to the UK oil and gas industry in Nigeria. He holds a BS with honors in mechanical engineering from the University of Manchester and a PhD in applied sciences from the University of Sussex.
