John J. Christmann IV succeeded G. Steven Farris as president and CEO of Apache and Stephen Riney was appointed as executive vice president and CFO. Christmann has been with the company for 18 years. Most recently, he worked as its executive vice president and COO in North America. As the vice president of Apache’s Permian region operations from 2010 to 2013, Christmann established its office in Midland, Texas, and oversaw a doubling of production. From 2004 to 2010, he was the vice president of business development, leading a team that executed more than USD 6 billion in acquisitions and divestments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Texas.
